Backbiting (Gheebat):
وَلَا يَغْتَب بَّعْضُكُم بَعْضًا ۚ أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًا ۚ فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ
(Surah Al-Hujurat 49:12)
Translation:
Do not backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it, and Allah warns you against it.
Warning Against Gossip (Spreading Lies):
وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا وَلَا يَغْتَب بَّعْضُكُم بَعْضًا
(Surah Al-Hujurat 49:12)
Translation:
Do not spy or backbite one another. Indeed, Allah is Most Merciful.
